PLEASE NOTE:
C & W Ohlde Cattle Co. is changing to TLC Farms, L.L.C
Our goal...
is to market sound,
functional females who consistently produce offspring
that will be an asset to
any herd.
Females are influenced by Duke 261, Fame and Chaps.
Current A.I. Sires include: Tradition 066, K19 (914 full
sib) and RC Rainmaker
C & W started as a commercial
breeding program. After using a Charolais on our Fall Calving cows
and seeing the smokey calves we new there was a place for Charolais.
The following year we carried embryos for Les Laue of Laue Charolais
and leased 40 heifers and cows. That fall a cow and heifer were
purchased at the Silver Hills Dispersal.
In 1996 a career change was made to relocate in the Kansas City
area. We found some land in the Easton Kansas area west of
Leavenworth. The herd was reduced to a few Charolais females. In
2000 we began purchasing embryos to help improve the genetics of our
breeding program. Embryos are still purchased as well as flushing
some of our own females, A.I. is used as well to increase the
quality of our program.
This summer (2006) we added South Devon as a second breed. These
cattle are a British breed that offer a gentle disposition,
excellent carcass quality and a outcross on heavy influenced Angus
herds. We teamed up with our goods friends, Show Boat Cattle Company
and purchased an interest in herd sire BC Prince as well as a Pride
of the Rockies daughter Taylor could use in the Junior program.
Additional females were purchased from MJB South Devons Montana and
DarrLynn Cattle Co. of Minnesota.
The goal on these two breeds has stayed the same, “produce quality
females with balanced traits that will be an asset to any breeding
program”. It still takes a good momma to produce bulls and if your
females are high maintenance your not going to be in the business
very long.
